Support for education is often a benefit of union membership or employment. CUNY-SLU accepts payments from unions, companies, agencies, and other organizations that sponsor a student’s tuition and fees. The sponsored amount will be recognized as pending payment, provided the sponsoring organization submits formal written communication on official letterhead (a “letter of credit” or “tuition voucher”) specifying the exact amount covered. If the organization does not cover the full balance, you are responsible for paying the remaining amount by the due date.

Tuition Partners
Students enrolled with a tuition partner may be eligible for full or partial tuition coverage. The process variers amongst tuition partners – while some may require contacting a SLU Certifying Official, others may ask you to complete completing additional forms. We aim to make this process as seamless as possible. To determine eligibility and next steps, select the tuition partner that is applicable to you below:
Voucher Programs
If your employer or union provides tuition assistance, you may be eligible to have your tuition charges billed directly to and paid by them. To ensure your benefits are applied, you must submit your union’s voucher or letter of credit to SLU by your tuition due date.
Your union may be one of the following:
- 1199SEIU
- CSEA (Civil Service Employees Association)
- IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees)
We strongly recommend contacting your employer or union as soon as possible to obtain the necessary voucher or letter of credit to ensure your tuition benefits are applied. For detailed information on required documentation, click here.
Additionally, we offer resources for employers and unions that agree to be billed for tuition. Remember, SLU cannot invoice your employer or union unless we receive the proper documentation.
Be sure to submit all required paperwork to Bursar@slu.cuny.edu by your tuition due date.
