Undergraduate students from partner CUNY colleges can now take advantage of the CUNY SLU 4+1 program. This initiative enables eligible students to enroll in up to 12 credits of graduate-level courses at CUNY SLU, with these courses counting toward both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. By participating in the program, students can reduce tuition costs while completing both their bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in five years.

The program offers flexibility, allowing students to apply during their sophomore, junior, or senior year and begin their graduate coursework in either the spring or fall semester.

FAQ

4+1 is a flexible way for students to complete both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in less time and at a lower cost. It is a creative way to “mix and match” programs at the institution or across CUNY to create more meaningful educational experiences for students. 4+1 is not the fixed combination of two degrees wed into a single program.

Students can save up to a semester of full-time study by participating in this initiative. Because CUNY bills at the student’s degree-level rate and not at the course level rate, students are charged undergraduate tuition

4+1 programs allow selected students to double-count a fixed number of graduate courses, which count toward both their bachelor’s degree and master’s degree.

The master’s degree can be at the same institution as the undergraduate degree or another CUNY institution.
