Credible Messenger Justice Center Scholars Program
Credible Messenger Mentoring is a transformative program that connects youth in the juvenile justice system with mentors who share similar backgrounds, particularly those who have experienced system involvement themselves. Through these connections, young participants receive guidance and support to help them positively reshape their lives.

The School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) partners with the Department of Probation’s Credible Messenger Justice Center (CMJC) to fund and enroll Credible Messenger mentors in the Community Leadership Certificate program at either the undergraduate or graduate level, based on their academic background.
- Undergraduate Level: Four 4-credit courses
- Graduate Level: Four 3-credit courses
Tuition Payments: Tuition for eligible students in this program is funded through the partnership. For payment details or billing inquiries, please contact the Office of Student Accounts.
Tuition Payment Certification |
Credible Messenger mentors should meet with SLU’s Academic Program Specialist for CMJC to ensure they continue to meet eligibility requirements for tuition benefits. This also ensures that your participation is properly recorded in our systems as “Paid by CMJC” for your semester of enrollment.
If you have received a tuition bill, it may indicate that either:
- You are not eligible to participate at no-cost, or
- Your account has not been recorded as “Paid by CMJC”
To resolve this, please contact your Academic Program Specialist as soon as possible.
For additional questions regarding your student account, you may also reach out to Bursar Operations.
