Students and faculty at the CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies are served by the Mina Rees Library at The Graduate Center.

The Graduate Center Library provides electronic research databases, a Course Reserve system for e-content and physical items, borrower access to physical books held at the GC Library, and materials requestable from other CUNY libraries and Inter-Library Loan.

CUNY SLU students are entitled to free printing at the GC Library.

CUNY SLU affiliates with a valid CUNY SLU ID (with current sticker and photo ID) can access the GC Library and the 20 libraries of The City University of New York system. Books can be borrowed or returned at any CUNY Library location.

Accessing Electronic Resources

SLU students and faculty have full access to CUNY Graduate Center Library e-resources at library.gc.cuny.edu.

  • Your CUNYfirst login credentials are used to log into all library resources from off-campus. Contact SLU IT to set up this account.
  • With your CUNYfirst login, you can access the Library databases, journals, ebooks, and Interlibrary Loan services at gc.cuny.edu
  • SLU students have free, unlimited printing at the GC Library. In order to print, login to a PC or Mac with your EMPLID, select printer of choice, and then login to the print station with your EMPLID and select your print job.
  • For questions about your CUNY login or EMPLID, MFA, forgotten passwords, password reset, or security problems, contact the SLU IT Help Desk ITHelpDesk@slu.cuny.edu or call 212-642-2084 from 9am to 9pm Monday through Thursday, 9am to 6pm Fridays.

Library Research Guidance and Support

  • Custom library research guides for Labor Studies and Urban Studies list the key library databases for your course research and provide suggested keyword terms for searching, so that you can find the best news and scholarly articles, data and statistics, company research, books, and legal information – for free.
  • Connect with your personal librarian via email, Zoom, or in-person for 1-1 assistance finding articles, books, archives, or other information about your course research, final paper, or Capstone topic.
  • Access chat help 24/7 if you need assistance outside of standard library business hours.
