International Admissions

In addition to the admission criteria that is listed for SLU’s undergraduate and graduate programs, applicants who were educated outside of the United States must submit the following documents:

• An official transcript in the original language from each postsecondary school/university attended in a sealed envelope, and
• An international credential evaluation report that includes a course-by-course analysis indicating the type of degree received, the U.S. equivalency of the degree, the graduation date and a cumulative grade point average from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

We recommend that documents are submitted to the evaluation service 8-10 weeks ahead of the application deadline to allow for the additional time needed to verify and review credentials.  To be considered for a graduate degree or advanced certificate program, the applicant’s undergraduate degree must be the equivalent of a U.S. baccalaureate degree.

• The most common NACES organizations that we accept evaluations from are SpanTran Evaluation Services and World Education Services. If you plan to use WES, we recommend that you use their “WES Basic – Course by Course” package as it is one of the fastest ways in which we will receive your academic record and will provide all the information we will need. Other common NACES organizations include International Education Research Foundation and Education Credential Evaluators.

Student Visa (I-20)

International applicants seeking a student visa to study in the U.S. will need to complete the Request for Certificate of Eligibility and the Declaration and Certification of Finances. You can view a copy of the I-20 application and get a list of all the documents needed on The Office of International Students, CUNY Graduate Centerwebsite.

To obtain a student visa for full-time study, you must demonstrate the ability to pay for your entire first year of study in the U.S. You also will be required to indicate the source(s) of funding for your second year. Even if you cannot fully support your first year, please indicate your sources of partial funding. Currently, SLU doesn’t offer international student scholarships. For visa purposes, you should not include potential merit scholarships or loans as sources of funding.

Immunization Records

All students need to submit proof of MMR immunization and proof or waiver for Meningitis immunization before registering for classes. Review SLU immunization requirements.
