The SLU Distinguished Alumni Award

The CUNY SLU Distinguished Alumni Award was founded for the inaugural class of 2019. The awardee is an alumnus who embodies the mission of the school and is selected based in part on their tenacity to evoke change. The recipient speaks at graduation and partakes in a symbolic passing of the torch ceremony.

2022 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient: Kerwin Simon

Kerwin V. Simon’s studies began at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, where he completed his Bachelor’s in Urban and Community Arts, and then at SLU where he completed a Master’s in Urban Studies as a proud member of the class of 2021. Kerwin’s career in healthcare began at NYC Health + Hospitals, where he worked first as a Rehabilitation Technician, then as Coordinating Manager and finally in his current position – as Assistant Director, where he is involved in several projects that focus on improving patient care. As Assistant Director, Kerwin is a proud member of CWA Local 1180.

In 2021, Liam Lynch was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for his work creating health and safety programs and conducting trainings for New York’s most vulnerable front-line workers.

In 2020, Bradley Kolb and Kristina Ramos-Callan were the SLU Distinguished Alumni Award recipients and were recognized for their work supporting healthcare workers on the front-lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
