Sessions are generally available at the following times:

  • Monday – Thursday: 12pm-2pm; 4pm-7pm
  • Friday: 12pm-4pm
  • Select Saturdays: 10am-2pm or 11am-3pm

You have two options:

A phone session allows you to connect with a consultant over the phone. When you sign up for your appointment, check the box labeled “I would like to conduct this session by telephone.

If you sign up for Written Feedback, a consultant will comment on your draft and send it back to you – usually within two business days. To request Written Feedback, follow these three steps:

  1. On the log-in page, select “Written Feedback” from the menu under “Choose a schedule.”
  2. Log in.
  3. Click on the appointment for the current day and follow instructions for attaching your paper.

Yes. Students can walk in and meet with a consultant if one is available, although we are frequently completely booked. Thus, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment at least two to three days in advance. All of our sessions start on the hour and last 45 minutes, so it is best to come in a little before the hour begins.

You can cancel your appointment on our schedule up to three hours before your scheduled appointment. If you wish to cancel later than this, you can do so by calling 212-642-2014 or emailing If you don’t cancel in advance or show up for your appointment, your appointment will be marked as “missed.”

Due to a high demand for appointments, we have instituted the following cancellation policy: If you two of your appointments are marked as “missed” or you have three late cancellations (within three hours of your appointment), you will receive a warning. If, somehow, a third appointment is marked as “missed” or you have another late cancellation, your online access to our schedule will be disabled for 30 days.

Yes! Our consultants are skilled at helping writers manage difficult readings and/or heavy reading loads.

Yes! You can come at any stage of your writing process, including before you have even started drafting. In a Writing Center, “I don’t know what I’m doing here” can actually be a good place to start.

Yes. We are here to support any kind of writing you are working on.
