The HEO Screening Committee at CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies is responsible for approving actions related to both new and existing staff whose employment falls under the City University of New York (CUNY) Code of Practice for the Higher Education Officer Series. This includes decisions on new hires, reclassifications, functional title changes, reorganizations, and similar actions. The College is dedicated to ensuring that the committee’s actions are transparent and easily accessible to all employees.

Appointment from a Search

After a search is finalized and certified by the Office of Diversity and Compliance, submit the action to HR.

Position Approval for New Position

Approval from the Vacancy Review Board (VRB) is required before proceeding to the HEO Screening Committee review and approval.

Salary Assignment Differential (Self-Nomination)

Based on outstanding performance or increased responsibilities within the HEO series title.

Substitute Appointments

Staff may be appointed temporarily to allow continuation of current operations and services or to address emergency situations. Substitute appointments may also be made to cover for individuals on certain leaves. Appointments are limited to a maximum of one year.
