Student Email

Each student is provided with an email account both for university and personal use while associated with CUNY.

How do I access for the first time?

The website to access is the Microsoft 365 Portal, which you may already be familiar with. You may use most browsers to access your account. You can also access software that is provided as a courtesy to all students. This is the URL to access the webmail:

What is my login name and email address?

The format for your login and email address is very specific. It is your first name “dot” last name + the last 2 digits of your EMPLID as provided to access the CUNY First Portal. So if you ID is “12345678”, your email format is:

john.doe78@slu3.cuny.edu

What is my default password? and how do I change it?

After entering your email address above, use the default password that was provided to you. If you are a new student it would be emailed to your preferred email in CUNY First.

To change your password, click on the “settings” gear in the upper right of your screen and then choose “Change Your Password”.
