Anna Zak joins SLU as the Head of Internships and Experiential Learning. She is passionate about civic engagement and social justice and has over 20 years of diverse national and international experience in the nonprofit, government and education sectors. Her higher education journey began in 2015 at St. John’s University where she worked at the Vincentian Institute for Social Action leading their Academic Service-Learning programs in New York and abroad. She is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the School of Education at St. John’s University and a recipient of several academic and merit scholarships and awards. Her research interests include Experiential and Service Learning, Virtual Exchange, Study Abroad, and Global Citizenship Development. Anna holds a Master of Public Administration Degree with a concentration in nonprofit management and international policy from New York University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Long Island University, and a Teaching Certification from The College of New Jersey’s Global Program in Cairo, Egypt. Anna holds the New Jersey State teaching certification for elementary and secondary levels. Anna was born in Poland, and has lived, studied, and worked abroad including in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Currently, Anna lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
