Steve Greenfeld joined the staff of the School of Labor and Urban Studies in February 2018 as Academic Program Manager of Urban Studies, and since November 2022 he has served as Retention and Prior Learning Assessment Manager. With extensive experience in program management, student retention, and academic advising leadership, he has also taught undergraduate courses in literature and composition for over 13 years. Dr. Greenfeld has a broad knowledge of the CUNY system, having held academic administrative positions at CUNY for ten years, and before SLU he directed the DC37 branch campus of the School of New Resources, College of New Rochelle. He has also directed the academic advising programs at Marymount Manhattan College and Bronx Community College and served as Associate Dean of Student Academic Affairs at George Mason University and Assistant Dean of Academic Support Services and Special Programs at LaGuardia Community College. He has presented at conferences and has publications on topics that range from adult learning, academic advising, and student retention to English literature. He completed the B.A. at the College of William and Mary, M.A. at Indiana University, Bloomington, and Ph.D. at Columbia University.
