IT Service Desk offers a comprehensive range of in-person services to serve the needs of students, staff and faculty. The Laptop Loaner Program provides a convenient solution for individuals who require temporary access to a laptop for academic purposes. The Computer Lab is a well-equipped facility where users can access specialized software and hardware resources to complete their projects and assignments efficiently. Printing services are also available on-site, allowing users to produce essential documents conveniently within the campus premises. Additionally, the IT Service Desk assists in issuing ID cards, ensuring smooth access to campus facilities and services while maintaining security and privacy standards.

Laptop, iPad Loan Program

SLU’s Equipment Loan Program is designed to support the academic needs of our students. Through this program, students can borrow technology such as laptops and tablets to assist with their studies and projects.

Eligibility:

  • All currently enrolled SLU students with a valid student or government issued photo ID.

Loan Duration:

  • Equipment can be borrowed for a period ranging from a few hours to a full semester, depending on the item and demand.

How to Borrow:

1. Complete the Equipment Loan Request “ELR” Form:

  • Fill out the student portion (highlighted in yellow) on page 1.
  • Carefully read the terms and conditions.
  • Sign the “Use and Liability Attestation” section (highlighted in yellow) on page 3.

2. Submit the ELR Form:

  • Submit the completed form in person at the IT Service Desk (18th Floor)
  • Alternatively, you can email the completed form to ServiceDesk@slu.cuny.edu.

3. Schedule your Pickup

  • Often, you will be able to check out a device immediately. However, if you submitted an ELR via email or if there is a wait for the device you selected, be sure to arrange a convenient pickup time with the IT Service Desk.
  • Equipment must be picked up by the student reserving the device. You must present a valid CUNY-SLU or Government issued photo ID.

Responsibilities

  • Borrowers are responsible for the care and timely return of the equipment.
  • Any damages or loss of equipment must be reported immediately and may result in fees.
  • Equipment must be returned in-person and checked by Service Desk staff, which can take up to 15 minutes. This includes an examination of the device to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • If equipment is needed beyond the specified period, the borrower must complete another Equipment Loan Request.

  • Technical support and troubleshooting are available during office hours.

Computer Lab and Printing

The Student Computer Lab is located on the 19th floor, room 1918. Additional student computers are located in the library (across from the student lab) and on the 14th floor in the student lounge. Students can print in black and white from the 19th floor and 14th floor machines. All students are allocated the same number of print impressions per semester.
