SLU’s Equipment Loan Program is designed to support the academic needs of our students. Through this program, students can borrow technology such as laptops and tablets to assist with their studies and projects.
Eligibility
- All currently enrolled SLU students with a valid student or government issued photo ID.
Loan Duration
- Equipment can be borrowed for a period ranging from a few hours to a full semester, depending on the item and demand.
How to Borrow Technology
1. Complete the Equipment Loan Request (ELR) Form
- Access the ELR form using your CUNY Single Sign-On (SSO) account. This provides an additional layer of security and keeps a record of your requests.
- Fill out all required fields marked with an asterisk (*). These fields must be completed for your request to be processed.
- Upload a valid CUNY-SLU or government-issued photo ID directly within the form. All uploads are securely handled.
- Review all policies included in the form packet, including equipment care, loan duration, financial responsibility, late fines, and damage/loss fees.
- Electronically sign the Use and Liability Attestation to confirm your agreement with the terms.
You may complete the form digitally on your own device or complete it in person at the IT Service Desk using available devices, but the submission itself is always digital.
2. Submit the Form
- Once completed and signed, the ELR form is automatically submitted through the system to service desk. There is no need to print, email, or hand-deliver the form.
3. Pick Up Your Device
- You must be a currently registered and matriculated SLU student to borrow equipment.
- The same credentials used to submit the ELR form (your SSO identity) must match the ID you present at pickup.
- Devices must be picked up in person by the student who submitted the request. No exceptions.
- Bring the following:
- CUNY-SLU ID, AND
- Government-issued photo ID
Pickup instructions and timing will be provided once your request is processed. Device availability may allow for immediate checkout, depending on inventory.
Note: The ServiceDesk@slu.cuny.edu email address is available only for informational questions, not for submitting forms or attachments.
Responsibilities
- Borrowers are responsible for the care and timely return of the equipment.
- Any damages or loss of equipment must be reported immediately and may result in fees.
- Equipment must be returned in-person and checked by Service Desk staff, which can take up to 15 minutes. This includes an examination of the device to ensure it is in good working condition.
- If equipment is needed beyond the specified period, the borrower must complete another Equipment Loan Request.
Support
- Technical support and troubleshooting are available during office hours.
