Chris Policano has more than 30 years of experience working in government, the labor movement, journalism and non-profit organizations in New York, Los Angeles and Washington, DC. Prior to joining CUNY SLU in April 2024, he was Executive Vice President of Rubenstein, a leading communications firm in NYC. He has held top public affairs positions at the NY City Council, the Office of the Queens District Attorney, the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), District Council 37 and Phoenix House Foundation. He worked as a reporter for the NY Daily News, the NY Post and the NY Amsterdam News and his work has appeared in New York magazine, The Nation, the Huffington Post and numerous trade publications. A former advisor to Columbia University’s Master’s Degree Program in Strategic Communications, he has also been a member of the NYC Press Club, the NY Association of Black Journalists and the International Labor Communications Association. He currently serves on the New York State Committee on Open Government.
