Brand Assets

Our primary identifying mark is The School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) wordmark. The wordmark should not be altered (besides being enlarged or reduced) and should be used following the guidelines below and according to our Style Guide.

The SLU logo is provided for use by SLU academic departments, research centers and institutes, administrative units, and officially approved student organizations. It may not be incorporated into, or combined with, any other mark, symbol, or graphic to create a new mark. The logo may not be used in a manner that is detrimental to The School of Labor and Urban Studies or CUNY, or to imply or suggest endorsement of any product or service not provided by SLU or CUNY. The logo may not be used in a manner that suggests official SLU communication when it is not (such as on a personal web page).

Style Guide

Logo Usage

The logo needs to remain a reasonable distance from other elements and images within a layout.

Minimum size 1.75 inches wide

  1. Do not stretch or distort the logo.
  2. Do not change logo stacking if it isn’t an approved additional lockup or small space lockup.
  3. Do not rotate logo.
  4. Do not add effects to logo.
  5. Do not use other colors.
  6. Do not alter the logo art (Logo or School Name) in any way. Always use the official approved art.

Color Palette

The primary colors for SLU are black and PMS warm red.
Secondary colors are dark blue PMS 302, teal PMS 7709, dark warm grey, medium warm grey, light warm grey and eggshell.
Pantone numbers, CMYK, RGB and hexadecimal numbers are provided for color consistency, and should be followed for print, electronic and all other usage.

Typography

The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies type font is TT Commons. It is available in a number of weights — The 3 primary weights are TT Commons – Bold, Medium and Light.

  • The School of Labor and Urban Studies name is typeset in TT Commons Bold, all capital case.
  • TT Commons Light can be used for body copy.
  • TT Commons Medium can be used for both body copy and headlines.
  • TT Commons Bold is primarily used for headlines and when emphasis is required.

SLU has a license agreement to web use of TT Commons. In order to present continuity in all marketing efforts TT Commons should be used across all channels — (Social Media, Web, Print etc). A separate print version of the font is available and should be obtained. If TT Commons is not available the Arial type font may be used as a alternate.
