Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program

The School of Labor and Urban Studies provides support to full-time New York City local government employees through the Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP). The College selects up to 4 awardees each semester. MGSP pays up to $1,500 for a maximum of 2-semesters (awarded in the first two semesters of matriculation only). Awards depend on the availability of funds and award amounts may vary.

Applicants can choose from one of the following dynamic programs:

  • MA in Labor Studies, MA in Urban Studies (Public Policy and Administration, Health Care Policy and Administration, The Urban Workforce)
  • Advanced Certificate (Health Care Policy and Administration, Labor Relations, Labor Studies, Community Leadership, Public Administration and Public Policy, Workplace Democracy and Community Ownership)

To be eligible for a Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship, you must:

  • Be employed by a New York City government agency
  • Have already been awarded your undergraduate degree
  • Be entering as a newly matriculated student; you must not be a current graduate student
