Estrella joins CUNY SLU as Interim Director of Enrollment, bringing with her 17 years of experience in higher education including both on and off-campus recruitment throughout New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area. In her most recent role as Senior Associate Director of Admissions at Marymount Manhattan College, Estrella managed a team of 5 admissions counselors in developing effective plans for outreach and recruitment that boosted Marymount’s visibility both locally and nationally. Prior positions include Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Baruch College, where she assisted with planning and implementing large scale events, conducting admissions presentations and training, and supervising a team of nearly 50 student ambassadors. Estrella also worked as an Admissions Counselor at the CUNY Welcome Center, where she actively recruited for 19 CUNY colleges, organized and led annual summer campus tours, and conducted admissions application workshops and counseling sessions in Spanish.
Estrella currently sits on the Executive Board of the New York State Association of College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC) as Vice President for Inclusion, Access and Success. In 2021 she was recognized with NYSACAC’s Inclusion, Access, and Success Award, and in 2018 received in the NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) Rising Star Award.
Estrella holds a B.S. in Marketing & International Business from SUNY New Paltz and earned an M.A. in Urban Affairs from the Murphy Institute at Queens College in 2013. She is currently pursuing a second Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration at Baruch College.
