A Message From the Dean

Greg Mantsios

As we continue to live through exceptional times that challenge every aspect of our lives, I hope that you and your families are safe and well and looking forward, as I am, to better days.

Fall semester classes at SLU will begin on August 25th in mostly distance-learning mode, although we are currently planning to offer a small number of classes in-person. We will share information about the in-person classes and protocols shortly. Moreover, we are developing a plan that will open the campus five days a week so that students may use the computer labs and avail themselves of other campus resources.

The SLU Reopening Committee, comprised of students, faculty, and staff, has developed a comprehensive set of guidelines and protocols to ensure everyone’s health and safety as we begin the reopening process. Please rest assured that accommodations will be made for students who may be returning to campus as well as for students who cannot return to campus.

If you have not yet enrolled for the fall semester, please do so with the assurance that SLU’s dedicated faculty and excellent academic support staff are ready and eager to help you commence—or continue—your studies.

Furthermore, SLU faculty and staff continue to work diligently to enrich your learning experience and assist you with all your academic needs during this transition period. We have secured internet boosting devices and continue to offer our laptop loaning program; prepared videos to support students inside and outside the classroom; launched a new writing workshop series and writing groups to support student success; developed a calendar of exciting virtual community events; and expanded virtual student counseling and career support—and much more.

If you have concerns about continuing your education because of personal or financial issues, we can help with that, too. Contact your program coordinator, academic advisor, or SLU’s wellness counselor: they are here to assist you and make sure you succeed. For tuition assistance, please visit our “Financing Your Education” webpage. If you face an unexpected financial crisis during the semester, SLU also has an Emergency Fund that may help you stay in school.

We are deeply committed to sustaining our School community now and in the future. As we move forward, please be assured that we at SLU care about you and are more determined than ever to help you continue your academic journey and reach your personal and professional goals.
